We announce with deep regret that Reading Rainbow will no longer be part of the PBS schedule after Friday, August 29th.
The 65 episodes that aired during the 08-09 year must be erased by September 1, 2010.
This provides the schools a single erasure date instead of being concerned individual episodes are erased one year after the last broadcast.
The remaining 88 episodes should be erased by October 1, 2009, to give schools time to acquire off-air retention rights.
Schools can license off-air retention rights on an annual basis for the complete series (all 153 episodes) for $175.00 for use at a single site. The cost for annual off-air retention with right to circulate to all school In the district is $300.00. The annual license fees should make it affordable for interested schools to continue to use the episodes.
