ENGAGE: State • Tribal • Local Government is a video series designed to instruct high school students as to how the three different types of government work together and separately to satisfy the will of their constituency. By drawing on 6 real-life examples and 3 personal profiles, ENGAGE transforms the workings of government from abstract concepts into real-world teachable moments. Combined with a 10-minute professional development video to illustrate its use in the classroom, ENGAGE will enhance the personal relevance of your curriculum and provide important insights into how democracy works and what it takes to get involved.

We pledge to:
Stimulate interest in and create a body of knowledge about state, local and tribal government that students want to explore. Create academically sound, standards-based materials that educators can weave into their curriculum. Incorporate specific, localized issues to teach broader themes common to all communities. Demonstrate the connections between governments (including state, local, tribal and federal). Consider policy requirements, community expectations, and other needs of administrators. Educate and empower parents so that their children become active and knowledgeable members of participatory democracy. Present accurate, authentic information to eliminate stereotypes, promote acceptance, and value diversity. Teach how civic participation can change governments over time to meet the needs and serve the will of the people.
For:
All members of Wisconsin communities (including tribal and non-tribal): teachers, students, administrators, parents, business leaders, officials, associational groups, law enforcement, courts, and community organizers.
