La Tienda de Luis is designed to introduce basic Spanish to students who have no prior
knowledge of the language. Each program is composed of
five sections, each
about three
minutes long. This allows
for the
programs to be reviewed in sections.
The protagonist in the series is Luis, a lanky, optimistic character who
is opening a
shop.
He asks some local children to help him decide
what
kind of shop will attract
them and
their friends. The humor,
young people, colorful sets
and locations,
animations, captions,
and drama
of La Tienda de Luis combine
to make learning
fun and engaging. Topics
covered by the series
include
food, clothing, games, pets,
and travel.
