Aventuras Vascas tracks the progress, problems, and adventures of two British students
during two weeks spent with their host families in Bilbao, the Basque Country in northern
Spain. The series begins as Sophie, Richard, and their classmates prepare to depart. They
feel their Spanish is "okay," but Sophie and Richard aren't too sure they will understand
the real thing. The fun begins when they end up staying in the same small town of Getxo.

The programs offer learning scenarios that are relevant and meaningful to teens, including
the fun of trying, succeeding, and sometimes failing; overcoming shyness; collecting material for project work; getting on with locals; devising coping strategies; and getting to grips with common problems in Spanish grammar and pronunciation. Each program can be used as an independent resource.
