Pre-production Tips | Sponsoring Adult's Role | Sound Bites
Role of the Sponsoring Adult
Each production entered in Sound~Waves must be sponsored by an adult. Adults may supervise and coach students, but they cannot participate in the actual production. The two sole exceptions are:
The adult is an interviewee.
The adult is providing musical accompaniment.
Sound~Waves rules and production tips are among the criteria festival judges will use in selecting the winning entries. It is the sponsoring adult's responsibility to make certain that students are familiar with this material.
The sponsoring adult also is responsible for the terms of the agreement on the
entry form, which reads as follows:
"This confirms that the program or PSA entered in this years festival is the original production of the students submitting it. If the entry includes any material protected by copyright or in the public domain, this agreement confirms that this material has been properly credited. All participants were in the grades indicated on this entry form at the time the program was recorded. I (we) expressly grant the Wisconsin Educational Communications Board rights to broadcast, narrowcast, and dub this submitted program for an unlimited period of time."
Most of all, the sponsoring adult should help make Sound~Waves an enjoyable learning experience for students and, at the same time, should encourage students to do their best work. Outstanding work is rewarded by Sound~Waves Wisconsin Youth Radio Festival.
