Dancer's regalia

The outfits dancers wear at the powwow are called regalia. Every dancer's regalia is different. This man has chosen to wear a traditional feather bustle on his back. The trailer (the long narrow piece of cloth hanging down his back) is decorated with a technique called applique. This is stitched cloth in a decorative pattern rather than the more common beadwork or ribbon work.
